My artistic journey is an exploration of non-objective, intuitive acrylic painting, quite a departure from a structured career in public policy. Delving into abstraction, I find joy in the spontaneity of painting without predefined plans, allowing sensations and feelings to guide my brush. In this transition from analytical to expressive, my work has become a refuge, a space where emotions flow freely onto the canvas. Through my art, I aim to convey a sense of play, serendipity, and strength, inviting viewers to join me in this vibrant and dynamic journey. My creative process is rooted in energetic engagement, avoiding overthinking and judgment. After enrolling in an Adult Art Program where I studied various mediums, my passion for abstract painting led me to individual teachers like Suzanne Metz, who taught about risk taking, process and trusting your instincts. The natural world, everyday occurrences and abstract expressionist painters have inspired me. Recently, the tactile nature of chunky painterly strokes has become a focus. I invite viewers to feel connected to the unfolding narrative of each piece. Hailing from Toronto and splitting my creative time between a shared artists’ studio and my custom built studio in Muskoka, an area valued for its lakes and rugged beauty. My dedication to art has been recognized with awards from the Federation of Canadian Artists and by being shortlisted for the Women United Art Prize 2025, for Painting & Drawing. Since 2017, my work has been included in juried shows, small group exhibitions and online platforms like Saatchi Gallery. Noteworthy exhibits have included the the ADC Fine Art show Art Comes Alive in Cincinnati, Abstraction at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver and exhibiting at the Artist Project in Toronto.
