REPRESENTED ARTIST

Melanie Meyer

I am Melanie Meyer, born in 1983 in Neu-Ulm (Bavaria), Germany, and originally trained as a hotel specialist. I discovered my artistic side in 2014 following the birth of my child and a profound realization regarding the transience and preciousness of life. From that moment on, it was clear: art was my life. That same year, I turned this passion into a business, beginning to artistically preserve the experience of pregnancy by creating and painting plaster casts of baby bumps, capturing the miracle of pregnancy for others to cherish. From 2016 onwards, my artistic focus shifted intensely toward the issue of sexualized violence against children. In 2017, a desire grew within me to use art for more than mere decoration, I wanted to drive change and create a visible monument for survivors. This mission gave rise to my exhibition *Weil nicht sein kann, was nicht sein darf* (“Because what must not be, cannot be”) featuring figures and sculptures molded from the bodies of survivors, each bearing their personal stories. My works serve as both a source of comfort and a call to action: offering reassurance to survivors (“You are not alone”) while simultaneously urging society to open its eyes and take action.I view art as a medium for breaking taboos and fostering social transformation. I have held both solo and group exhibitions, since 2024, I have been active in the international art scene, with my work exhibited worldwide. A personal milestone was my first museum exhibition in November 2025 at the Hong Art Museum in Chongqing, China. Additionally, pieces of mine are held in the private collection of the Copelouzos Family Art Museum as part of the “35×35” art project.
